Some achievements in a professional journey are more than just awards; they become lasting milestones. PROGGA Tobacco Control Journalism Award 2017 is one such achievement in my career as a tobacco control journalist and public health researcher.
On 27 May 2017, at the CIRDAP Auditorium in Dhaka, I received the Best TV Report award at an event marking World No Tobacco Day. Anisul Huq, the then Law Minister of Bangladesh, presented the award crest and certificate of recognition to me. The awards were jointly given by Progotir Jonno Gyan (PROGGA) and the Anti Tobacco Media Alliance (ATMA).

The award recognized my investigative report for Jamuna Television on smokeless tobacco products, zarda, gul, and bidi, highlighting their widespread use, harmful effects, and the realities surrounding tobacco consumption.
As a tobacco control journalist and public health researcher, this recognition remains particularly meaningful to me. It reflects the importance of evidence-based journalism in raising public awareness about tobacco-related harms and advancing public health.

PROGGA Tobacco Control Journalism Award 2017 -Best TV Report remains a proud milestone in my professional journey and a lasting source of inspiration to continue working for stronger tobacco control, evidence-based reporting, and better public health.
