My first book on television journalism in Bangladesh, “Broadcast Journalism One: Reading and Reality,” has sold out its first print run of 500 copies. Copies of the second edition are now being distributed to journalism departments at various universities across the country. It is my honor to share that the book has now been included in the textbook curriculum of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Rajshahi, the second-largest public university in Bangladesh.
The book has been enriched by a foreword written by Dr. Giti Ara Nasreen, Professor, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, University of Dhaka. It took me a little while to finally present a copy of the book to my respected teacher.

Foreword:
‘Although television broadcasting in Bangladesh has crossed the milestone of half a century, opportunities for formal training in television journalism have remained quite limited. Since the 1980s, private TV channels have expanded, and later even news-based channels have emerged. However, despite the increase in number and grandeur, the diversity in news presentation has not grown much due to a lack of long-term investment. Journalists who originally came from the print media still play the leading role in the world of television journalism. Yet, television journalism requires not only technical skills but also creativity. Unfortunately, no fully equipped institute has yet been established in the country to foster both skill and creativity. The few university courses and scattered books available have not been very effective in bridging theory and practice.
In such a context, the publication of a practical book on television journalism is most welcome. Drawing from his reading and professional experience, the author, Sushanta Sinha, has presented numerous details with a variety of examples. Written in simple language, almost like a manual, this book is expected to be helpful for everyone—from students of television journalism to working journalists.’
