An additional 200 million BDT is taken daily from consumers by cigarette companies. Even when companies charge one taka extra for each stick cigarette, they keep taking in 200 million BDT a day or 70 billion BDT annually, but the government does not receive any revenue. This is tax avoidance, according to my investigative report.
